Jekyll and Hyde

Sylvie's working on her 2 year molars right now, and as such is oh, just a little testy and moody. Nothing makes our happy little girl a miserable little lunatic faster than cutting teeth. Or maybe I should say slower than cutting teeth, since it literally, and I mean literally takes her months to cut one tooth. We try so hard to constantly remember that it's just teething, but sometimes it can be nearly impossible when she's being so difficult and tantrumy and you know, insane. But other times, like tonight, it's just as impossible not to laugh at the ridiculous mood swings we get to experience every single day.

Here we are sitting around the table, Sylvie has swiped my marker and is writing on her arm. I think my exact words were "Sylvie, please do not draw on your arm. You can draw on the paper or you can put the marker down, but you can not draw on your arm." Pretty reasonable request, right?

Here Sylvie actually stops what she's doing to look at me and make eye contact, like basically her way of saying "Excuuuuse me, but did you just reprimand me?"

And when I said again "Sylvie, I don't want you to draw on your arm, you can draw on the paper or you can put the marker down" she went into complete meltdown mode. I'd say it was zero to 60 in less than 2 seconds. Impressive!

She wailed and screamed for a few seconds before we distracted her with something silly, at which point she started to give in:

Peeking out:

And victory is ours! Tantrum over before it really even began.

Total time span of this photo series: about 15 seconds.
