Poor little birdie

We were heading out to the DMV on Saturday morning to get my car inspected (only slightly overdue) when I found a small finch (?) hopping along the sidewalk right in front of me. It was the type of bird that you usually don't get within 20 feet of without it flying away. I quickly came to realize the little creature was in duress.



You can probably tell from the picture above that the bird had a string tightly wound around it's left leg. Kacey got the scissors and tweezers and we were able to help the little thing out.

Now free, the bird hung out for a couple of minutes before flying away. Godspeed, little birdie.

We eventually made it to the DMV. Obviously it was a little too loud for the girl.
