Theme: Sky

As I mentioned in a previous post I've gotten pretty hooked on a blog called Unplug Your Kids. I'm new to the site so this week I looked through some of the older posts to mine for ideas. A recent theme was "sky". I came across a really great idea for the theme that I thought would be a fun activity to do while I'm at work with all 3 kids. We decided to do a test run at home.

First, we made nice old fashioned homemade whipped cream. Sylvie LOVED licking the mixers clean.

Next we made some blue jello and had Sylvie mix in several cups of ice cubes, to have it quick set. It won't be as firm as regular jello, but it will be nice and gloopy, perfect for spooning into a cup.

Here she is stirring the ice cubes around, helping the jello set.

And here John demonstrates how the jello gets spooned in to the glass. The idea is to do layer after layer of whipped cream, jello, whipped cream, jello.

The end result: SKY parfaits!

Sylvie was so focused on eating the parfaits that she didn't even seem to notice how beautiful they were!

She did, however, notice how tasty they were. :)
