Today she went with orange!

She usually fills the bucket half way with this sandy dirt mixture, at which point she dumps the whole thing out on her legs, her feet, my feet, whatever is closest and in most need of getting filthy. Thanks Syl!

She'll usually dig her hands in the dirt and sand and search for treasures: acorn tops, old buried rocks, or the jackpot of all discoveries, live bugs! She gets so excited and loves to watch them scurry through the sand back to a safe hiding spot. She's pretty gentle so far and hasn't seemed to figure out that she can actually pick them up and do stuff with them, like you know, freak her mother out. Thank heavens for small blessings.

How cute! Pretty soon she'll be asking for a jar so she can bring them home and watch them even if she's not outside.........get used to it!
Oh yes indeedy! I so remember seeing your brother noshing on something and when I put my hand to his mouth and asked him to spit it out, imagine my horror when a big black water bug ran up the palm of my hand! : ) Dirt was a huge hit with you, too, Kac, when you were Syl's age. You need to get a big glass jar (I know you must have pickle jars!) and put a couple of earthworms in it along with a small plant. Syl will be amazed at the tunnels and the plant will grow great too! xxxooo
