Friday night

Sylvie was very excited when I told her Grandma Kathy and Grandma Winnie were coming over this evening. John is out for the night with friends and she was asking about him, so it was a nice distraction when they stopped by and hung out for awhile. And even nicer was when Kris and Sabina stopped by unexpectedly too. Syl shared her big box of cookies, played games with Winnie and her little Grinch figurines, and told her Uncle Kris all about her traumatic experience with Santa Claus:

Why yes, that is a picture of Sylvie and her Uncle Kris conversing. She brought him the Santa pics to show him what went down. About a week ago she woke up one morning demanding to call Kris on the phone, and since then she likes to talk about him quite a bit. She asks to go to Grandma and Kris' house almost every day, and tonight she came *this* close to giving him a kiss goodbye. He asked her for a kiss as he was leaving, she scootched over to him full speed, which prompted every jaw in the room to drop, and at the last minute she pulled a fast one and psyched him out. Better luck next time, Kris. I'd still say things are looking pretty good for their relationship.

And although I didn't get any good pictures of her wearing the gift I mentioned in yesterday's post, here are some close ups of the goodies. We received these from our friends Rebecca and Annika in Portland, Oregon. Rebecca and I met through an online community of mothers, and we both participated in this year's Secret Winter Gift Exchange. Rebecca is hilarious and talented and her daughter Annika is, in a nutshell, adorable. She's several months older than Sylvie and since she was born I've loved hearing everything about her, seeing pictures and videos, just watching her in anticipation for what Sylvie will soon be up to. So Rebecca made Sylvie this sweet shirt with little flowery patch, a matching bracelet and 2 hair clips. I'm not sure if she even realizes how totally on the mark she was with the gift, it is exactly the kind of thing I'd see in a boutique or online and drool over. I tried to get a nice detail shot so you can really see each piece. Check out that one vintage button in particular, with the rhinestone center. Drool. Rebecca, if you happen to be reading this, thank you so much for such a thoughtful gift. We love it.
