So I may not be able to afford to send Sylvie to the local Montessori, but I can steal a page from their teaching manual.
My friend Sue reminded me of this great activity that was a big hit with the toddlers she taught. I know we've done this with Sylvie before, but I think she was much younger and had a hard time focusing on just spooning the beans from one cup to the other.
But this time, with all the wisdom and experience of a ripe 2.5 year old, she tackled the activity with full gusto.
And then moments later dumped the beans all over the table anyway for some good old fashioned tactile play.
Doesn't that look like so much fun?
