Speaking of language, most of Sylvie's first words were animal sounds. She still loves making animal sounds, and since she got the basics like a cow, pig and dog down pat a looooong time ago, she's moved on to more unique animal sounds. Like a snail. Do you know what a snail says? Ask Sylvie the next time you see her! Or a kangaroo, a koala bear, giraffe.
I think a big part of the reason why her interest remains so piqued is because of a little game John plays with her every night after her bath. While he wraps her up in her towel he asks her "what animal do you want to be tonight?" Sylvie usually thinks for a few moments, utters a few umms, and then makes up her mind, cheerfully shouting out the animal for that night. With that, John takes off, Sylvie in his arms, bouncing (for a bunny or kangaroo), slithering (if she's a snake), swimming (fish), galloping (horse) etc., while Sylvie makes the accompanied sound, giggling the entire time! The object of the game is for me to guess what the animal of the night is.
Tonight she was a kangaroo. So while John hopped through the house with Sylvie in her pouch, she yelled out "boing! boing! boing!"
