Animal Park

We had a beautiful Sunday afternoon today, so we decided to take a drive to Thompson Park, which is just a few towns over. The park has a large pond, great playground equipment and lots of open space. But its most exciting feature, at least according to our little girl, is the deer enclosure. I do not know by what circumstances these deer found themselves in captivity, but they've got a pretty large wooded area in which to roam (a few acres, at least) and they do not have to worry about getting plowed down by an SUV or falling prey to a hunter...so I don't feel too bad about it. Tip: Some parents bring stale bread for their kids to feed to the deer. The cool kids bring carrots....and the deer flock to them.

Perhaps our new favorite picture of Sylvie...

"I go to slides now, Daddy?"

How great that she can get SO close to animals that we don't see every day. How nice for the animals, too, that they can see people and aren't afraid that they're going to be hurt by them.
