I guess we're desperate for Spring around here. How else can you explain spending an afternoon at the Jersey shore on a 40 degree day? Thankfully we had the foresight to dress Sylvie in layers and bring her winter hat and a nice warm jacket. We didn't have mittens though, and ended up using a spare pair of socks in the diaper bag to cover up her hands. Sylvie didn't mind, of course. She had so much fun running around the (empty) beach and collecting rocks for Grandpa the fish's bowl.
And it ended up being an incredibly exciting afternoon for us, too. After battling the freezing cold and high winds we decided to duck into a pizza place for lunch. As soon as we walked in we practically bumped in to Trey Anastasio and his family, who had just finished their own lunch. Trey is the lead singer and guitarist of John's favorite band, Phish. And he was great, so friendly and approachable. It was just really exciting for us, and to say that John was walking on air the rest of the day may be a bit of an understatement.
