MMW is one of John's favorite bands, and we've been going to their concerts for years. We heard about their children's record being worked on pretty soon after Sylvie was born, but it was only just released this week. As soon as John found out about today's show he bought some tickets and the road trip was planned. We were going to skip the opening bands, figuring that Sylvie and Ben might not last too many hours huddled in at a concert. I am so glad we decided to give it a try, because unbeknownst to us, the opening bands were actual kids! Sylvie thought they were so cool, and just sat in my lap captivated by the girls playing drums and guitars and the boy playing piano and saxophone. And then MMW came out. Sylvie is familiar with their music since John plays it around the house very regularly, but we were still blown away by her reaction. As soon as they started, like literally two chords into the first song, Sylvie jumped up, squealed, and started dancing around, and at one point had both of her arms outstretched above her head waving back and forth, like totally feeling the music man. Then Ben jumped up and the two of them just danced and clapped and laughed for the next 45 minutes straight. It was so much fun!! All of the parents were squeezed together on the floor of the Barn while the toddlers and babies and bigger kids climbed all over us, danced around, shared each other's snacks, etc. So so so cute!
The only bummer of the day, and it's a big one, is that we weren't allowed to have any electronic or photographic equipment in the Barn. That's right, THERE ARE NO PHOTOS DOCUMENTING TODAY'S CUTENESS. Ahhhhh. It hurts just writing that out. We did take some photos after the show, just walking around the town of Woodstock.
First, here's Sylvie and Ben running around the parking lot getting out their last bits of energy before the car ride:

After the show we decided to walk around town a bit, problem was we only had 1 stroller. So we improvised:

Which Sylvie wasn't too thrilled about:

A couple of minutes later we saw some little puppies in a pet store window, and all was good once again:
