We had dinner at my mom's house tonight, which has actually been planned on and off for over a week now. But since we finally got it together tonight we realized we should make it a little birthday celebration for Miss Syl. So as we were leaving work I told Sylvie that we were going to stop at the store and pick up a birthday cake, which we were bringing to Grandma's house. Without missing a beat she looked up at me and said "Meemah's house birthday party?" I have no idea where she learned about birthday parties!
I let Sylvie pick out her own cake and a balloon (she picked white with blue piping and a yellow smiley face balloon) and we headed over to Grandma's. After a yummy baked ziti dinner (or "ghetti" as Sylvie called it) we busted out the cake. Syl helped with the candles:

And then got shy during the cake cutting (because Uncle Kris spoke to her). I'm telling you it's like 1 step forward 2 steps back with those two!

And big surprise here, she looooooved the cake.

Yum!

i wish you had posted an AFTER pic! for those of you reading, go back and look at that lovely cake and now picture it as one pretty big puddle of mostly chocolate in front of that cute little girl as she delighted in tasting as much as she could. when daddy john had doled out our pieces, including a piece for syl, she looked at her piece, looked at the remaining cake, and she decided i think i'd prefer THAT piece and began eating from it! : )
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SYLVIE! I missed the 3:01 post!
