We got this ukulele for John for Father's Day this year, and the two of them have spent quite a bit of time this summer learning how to play. Super cute.
And in other news, Sylvie has all of a sudden figured out that I have a name, a real name, not just Mommy. I noticed her say it once last week, while she was following Nicole around at work. I figured she was just mimicking her and hadn't actually made the connection that Mommy=Kacey, because she seemed to forget about it just as quickly as she picked it up. Until yesterday, when John and Sylvie dropped me off at the laundromat. As soon as I got out of the car Sylvie started crying for me and calling out for "Mommy". John says she did this for a minute or two, realized that it wasn't working, and then just started desperately calling out "Kacey! Kacey! Kacey!"

i think you were 5 months old when i introduced myself to you as kathy and your cousin jodi's great-grandmother got the biggest kick out of that! i often wonder if they ever wonder why everybody else calls us a particular name and yet they call us mommy or daddy. i'm glad you didn't hear sylvie calling ya...sounds like it was a heartwrencher! xxoo
Only my grandchild ever called me by my first name......I loved it!
and even a shortened version of it..........Win. It was like we were on the same level. I can't remember when my children knew I had another name beside "mommy"
